As planning for the seventh annual opera music festival in Lismore began the decision to officially change the name from Lismore Music Festival to Lismore Opera Festival (LOF) was made. This decision presented an opportunity to take a closer look at the brand’s visual identity focusing specifically on the logo.

Being residents of Lismore ourselves and having attended the Opera on numerous past, occasions, this project was one that was particularly close to Red Heaven Design and the insights gained from our personal experiences are vastly present in the logo as it exists today.

The blue is illustrative of one of many illuminating hues that can be observed in a majestic sunset over Lismore on a clear, summer’s eve just prior to the Opera’s overture. A soft palette of other sunset colours were also presented, those of which can be swapped out for the blue to keep the design fresh dependent on the theme of the Opera itself.

The swallows represented in the logo in different sizes and positions create depth and movement as if they are swooping and soaring in and about the typefaces just as they do through the set during the performance each year where they unquestionably become members of the cast.
