The Ian Hendrick Band hails from Cork and is one of the country’s most popular wedding bands. Ian approached us to update the groups branding and provide solutions that could be used for marketing and stage performance purposes.

We had a close look into the wedding performers industry and found that image and video were the tools of choice for marketing but that strong branding was rare to see. Ian already used both video and images for marketing but wanted to address branding and have a collection of brand assets for use when needed.

Our research included watching the band performances for which their reputation for putting on a high energy show is legendary, and making note of their signature apparel – a red jacket, white shirt, black tie and black trousers with two distinctive stripes a reference to a big brass band uniform.

After an iterative design process back and forth with Ian we were delighted that he chose our personal favourite solution. This was to develop illustrated characters wearing the bands signature clothing in dynamic action poses – a reference to the bands live performances – to accompany a range of instruments played by the band members. The characters would be modular for use separately or together in whatever circumstances Ian needed.

We designed a simple circular logo for clarity when displayed across all touch points, a vibrant colour palette that compliments the characters and which ‘popped’ when the branding was used on social media, in the form of stage displays, for live performances and on the band website.
