The Regal Cinema in Youghal, Cork opened it’s doors on June 15, 1936. The first film shown at the cinema was the Irving Berlin musical Top Hat, starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. It was converted into a 3 screen cinema in the 1990’s but finally closed in 2010 to the sadness of the local community. In July of this year after undergoing an extensive transformation, and with much of it’s original architectural features retained, the Regal has opened it’s doors once again.
We were commissioned to create branding for use across all customer touch points, signage and website for the cinema.
Working closely with the new owners throughout the project it was agreed that the history and heritage of the cinema should be reflected from a visual point of view while providing a frictionless user experience for todays online customer when it came to digital.
